Hampton Court Gardens For both adults and children. There is a maze, underground passage and grotto with waterfall to walk under. Everyone who goes there is so enthusiastic about it and we’d very much recommend it. Lunch in the Orangery is inexpensive and good. Not open all year round so check first. This is a really great place.
Kington Golf Club Fantastic golf course – the highest in England with superb views over Wales
The Grove Ten Pin bowling and Driving Range There is also a golf course here where anyone can play. It’s not a bad course but the standard of golf is often terrible and playing speeds can be very slow. The Leominster Golf Club is next door and better for experienced golfers. Again not a bad course though Kington so much better with cracking views. England’s highest golf course, unique and challenging. The views are spectacular. Mind the sheep on the fairways!
Go-Karting at Herefordshire Raceway These are truly fast. The owners’ son is a world motorbiking champion!
Wye Valley Canoe Centre Beautiful views of the Black Mountains and lots of picnic spots en route. Would recommend doing a short trip as paddling for hours is quite a chore – we’ve done it. Well organised and great wood where you do it. Children always enjoy it.
The Great Escape Fantastically organised and great fun. One day or two days including camping out. Will do private parties. It is a fair distance away. Now has longest zip wire in England!
In Balance Coaching Level 3 Triathlon Coach who lives in the adjacent farm. Learn to exercise the right way. Ed will organise wild water swimming, bike rides, runs in fantastic places and many other training activities.
Shobdon Airfield Just 5 minutes drive away. Plane and helicopter lessons available – go on have a go!
Outdoor Pursuits Loads of activities including white water rafting in the winter months, gorge walking, raft building, caving and more. 25 minutes away.
Walk Hergest Ridge Great views of Mid Wales. If you are organised you could leave a car on the other side at Gladestry and walk over the ridge (3 – 4 miles) down the other side and have lunch at the Royal Oak, a friendly old fashioned pub and you’ll feel like you deserved your drink.
Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre Interesting collection of animals you can get close to and lots of owls! Great for little kids.
Llangorse Multiactivity Centre Indoor and outdoor climbing, zip wires, riding and other activities. This is quite a long way away but included just in case you fancy a trip to Mid Wales. Medieval-type castle with lots to do and there is a clay pottery workshop. 40 minute drive away.
Swimming pool, gym, soft play area This is the local pool in Leominster. Built fairly recently and pretty good, other activities sometimes available including soft play area and trampolining.
